The FAA's Western Pacific Regional Office is in Congresswoman
Maxine Water’s Congressional District.
Congresswoman Laura Richardson’s District is just to the south of us, in
Long Beach. Ms. Waters has written more letters to the agency
concerning the realignment of the workforce than any other
legislator. Prior to the passage of H.R. 2881, the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2007, I corresponded with
Ms. Waters office on an almost a day to day basis. In the process, I played a
major role in defusing the FAA’s decision to forcefully relocate the
engineering workforce. The“Maxine Water’s Amendment”, to H.R. 2881, to prohibit facilityconsolidation of the regional offices of the FAA without oversight, became part
of that bill. It has since become an
established principle in all Congressional bills to fund the FAA. It was brought forward again in this year’s
version of the FAA Reauthorization Act, H.R. 915.
